Common Roots is a nonprofit community organization that connects farmers, educators, youth, and community members to build a sustainable future through food and land stewardship education. It grew out of a gathering of parents, teachers, and farmers who met in 2005 to discuss health, nutrition, and food systems. Common Roots engages community members in learning about local history, ecosystems, cultural heritage, and economy, with initiatives focused on natural resource stewardship, native studies, wellness culture, and sustainability. The organization runs programs like Farm to School, Farm to Go, and Farmstand Education, providing organic food, educational opportunities, and promoting food equity and sustainability within the South Burlington community.
